The STA Alternative Liquidity Mapping Survey. This survey was undertaken by the STA Institutional Committee out of a specific concern for the handling of orders once received by alternative liquidity providers. In addition to providing a comprehensive roadmap of alternative liquidity offerings, previously unavailable to the industry, the survey yielded some interesting indicative conclusions. Most important among these is that the alternative liquidity phenomenon itself indicates the continued importance of sophisticated and market-expert traders, even as the role of traders continues to morph.
